Gerken, Mrs. Amanda R.

Widow of Henry J. Gerken passed away 8 p.m. Friday at her
home following a lengthy illness. Age 82 years. Amanda R. Schulz
was born Aug. 31, 1882, in Bridgeport Township, and had lived there and
in Saginaw all of her life. They owned and operated an appliance
shop in the 800 block East Genesee Avenue for several years, and for 43
years owned and operated the Gerken Co. at 5658 Dixie Highway. She
was married to Mr. Gerken in June, 1904. He passed away Oct. 9, 1955.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. Surviving
are three sisters, Mrs. Roy Quillin, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. William D.
Wilcox, Lake Orion, Mich.; Mrs. Harvey Bow, Saginaw; several nieces and
nephews. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday at the Case
Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Mr. Henry Malzahn will officiate with
burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call the chapel, 5700
Dixie Highway, after 2 p.m. Sunday. Those who so desire may give
memorials to their favorite charity. |
