Passed away 4 a.m. Tuesday at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital
after an illness of five months. Age 78 years. He was born
Jan. 18, 1888 in Bridgeport Township and had been a lifelong Saginaw County
resident. He married Nettie A. Morrow July 15, 1916. She passed
away July 7, 1951. He had engaged in farming all of his life in Bridgeport
Township. Surviving are two sons, William C. Gerken, Bridgeport;
Robert E. Gerken, Saginaw; 10 grandchildren; one brother, John Gerken,
Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Banks [Mollie Bank], Saginaw;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place 1 p.m.
Thursday at the Reitz Funeral Home. Rev. Norbert H. Mueller will
officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call
at the funeral home 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, until 9 p.m. Wednesday
and until time of service on Thursday. |
