Meinecke, Lester J.
   Meinecke, Lester J., Bridgeport, Michigan. The son of Charles and Mabel (Gerken) Meinecke passed away Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Cartwright Care Center after a lengthy illness. Age 82 years. He was born March 26, 1924 in Saginaw. He married Alice M. Hagerl October 31, 1942; she predeceased him February 13, 1998 after 55 years of marriage. He served with the US Army as a Mess Sergeant in Germany during World War II. He owned and operated Meinecke Dairy until 1967. He also worked for Herb Bronner and Ron Wright Construction Company. He later worked for First of America Bank, retiring as Second Vice-President. Lester loved going to Bradenton, Florida, flying planes and doing his own yard work.
   Surviving are one daughter Judith and her husband Robert Honeman, Farwell, MI; grandchildren Carmen and her husband Dan Dilts, Bridgeport, MI; Wendy Honeman, Westland, MI; James Hurney, Mt. Pleasant, MI; Keith Honeman, Mt. Morris, MI; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Roy Biermann; five sisters-in-law, Mary Bauer, Helen Hagerl, Lola Hagerl, Lyla Meinecke and Grace Meinecke; many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by one grandson Derek Honeman, and by two brothers and three sisters, Henry Meinecke, Charles Meinecke, Marie Ott, Evelyn Biermann and Laraine Hagerl.
   Funeral service will take place 12:00 noon Monday, November 27, 2006 at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, 6065 King Road at Portsmouth Road. Rev. Matthew A. Smith will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and then at the church from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Cartwright Care Center or St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church.
