Mitchell, Mrs. Martha L.

Widow of Fred J. Mitchell passed away at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday
at the Montrose Nursing Home following an eight months illness. Age
72 years, Martha L. Gerken was born May 31, 891, in Saginaw, and resided
in Flint for a time and moved to Miami, Fla., 38 years ago. She was
married to Mr. Mitchell in Flint in August, 1915. [actually September
25, 1915] He passed away Feb. 7, 1963. She was a member
of the First Presbyterian Church, Miami, Fla., and the Star and Fort Dallas
Chapter No. 17, O.E.S. Surviving are four sisters and three brothers,
Mrs. Elmer Sawatzki, Mrs. Ernest Brenner and Mrs. Adam Hartner, all of
Saginaw; Mrs. Nolan Sixberry, Reese; Edward Buell, Birch Run; John and
Frank Bull, both of Bridgeport. Another sister, Mrs. Mabel L. Meinecke,
passed away Sept. 27, 1963. She also leaves 29 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Reitz Funeral
Home. Rev. Herman M. Janssen will officiate, Burial will be in Grace
Lawn Cemetery, Flint. Friends may call at the funeral home after
3 p.m. Thursday. |
