Gerken, Mrs. Sophie

Passed away Friday morning at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital
after a lingering illness. Age 80 years, Sophie Rohloff was born
Jan. 18, 1880, in Buena Vista Township, and had been a life-long Saginaw
County resident. She was married to C. Henry Gerken Oct. 9, 1901,
in Saginaw. He predeceased her Jan. 10, 1953. The deceased
was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society.
She had made her home the past three years with her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred C. Zietz, Saginaw. Surviving, besides her daughter,
are one son, John C. Gerken, Saginaw; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place Monday afternoon at a time to be announced
later by the Reitz Funeral Home. Those who so desire may give memorial
contributions to the St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund. |
