Miss Maria Teeple died at the residence of Arthur Houghton, near Patterson, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 1898, aged about 75 years, after an illness of six weeks.  She was a sister of Bryant Teeple who lived, for many years before his death, north of Whitehall.  Deceased emigrated from New Jersey in 1836, and resided in the city with G. S. Vosseller until about three years ago.  She was beloved and respected by a large circle of friends who mourn her loss.  Her remains were laid at rest in the Whitehall cemetery.
