William T. Teeple Passed Away Tuesday

   William Thomas Teeple passed away suddenly at his home in Roodhouse, at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1940, aged 64 years, 10 months and 25 days.  He had been in failing health for several years.  

   For about forty years he has served as express agent at the Alton railroad station in Roodhouse.  On the day of hes death he attended to business at the express office and up-town as usual, and expired while lying on a couch at home following supper that evening.  

   Mr. Teeple was born near White Hall October 22, 1875, but lived most of his life in Roodhouse. He was the son of James T. and Isadoa Whiteside Teeple, coming to Roodhouse with his parents at an early age, and received his education in the Roodhouse schools.

   He was united in marriage with Miss Lena Vansickle of Roodhouse, May 23, 1902, who survives.  Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Glenn Teeple; two daughters, Virginia, wife of J. T. Shaw, and Miss Vivian Teeple; his mother, Mrs. Isadora Teeple; one brother J. Verne Teeple, and one sister Mrs. Walter Scott, all of Roodhouse.  One son Kenneth preceded his father in death five years ago this December.

   Mr. Teeple was a member of the First Baptist church of this city, and of Roodhouse lodge A.F.& A. Masons.  In his earlier years he was a member of the Roodhouse band, in which he took much interst and helped to keep going.

   Quiet and unostentatious, yet also fo uniformly even and genial disposition, Mr. Teeple went serenely along life's way in the performance of useful pursuits, winning the respect and friendship of those with whom he was associated.

   Funeral services were held at the Reeve Funeral Home in Roodhouse, at 2:30 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. E. Best of the Baptist church.

   Music was furnished by Mrs. S. L. Smith, soloist, with Mrs. Margie Ricks accompanist.

   The casket bearers were James M. Orr, C.E. Baxter, L.M. Bigham, A.L. Clark, Lloyd Coffman and W.A. Nell.  Interment was made in Fernwood cemetery.
